Green Initiatives and Best Practices:
The Vidyalaya has undertaken several commendable green initiatives to maintain a **clean, green and sustainable campus** and to sensitise students and staff towards environmentally responsible practices. As part of its best practices, all students and staff members follow the principle of **Zero Plastic Use**, thereby contributing towards reducing plastic waste on the campus.
To reduce the carbon footprint of the Vidyalaya and minimise the use of non-biodegradable materials, the use of **handmade and reusable banners** is promoted instead of flex banners during various school programmes and events.
Special emphasis is given to **enhancing greenery and biodiversity within the Vidyalaya premises**. Green spaces, gardens and an **herbal garden** have been developed and maintained to create a healthy and pleasant environment. Students are encouraged to participate in plantation, gardening and nature-awareness activities, helping them understand the importance of trees, plants and biodiversity in maintaining ecological balance.
**Water conservation** is another important area of focus. Students and staff are sensitised towards the judicious use of water and prevention of water wastage. The Vidyalaya promotes responsible water-use practices and awareness about the importance of conserving this precious natural resource. Efforts are also made to promote **rainwater harvesting and other water conservation measures**, wherever feasible.
The Vidyalaya follows **waste segregation at source**, with different colour-coded dustbins for different categories of waste. Students and staff are sensitised about responsible waste disposal, recycling, reuse and reduction of waste. A **vermicompost pit** has also been developed in the Vidyalaya premises to convert biodegradable waste into useful manure and promote sustainable waste-management practices.
The Vidyalaya has been actively **participating in the Green School Audit conducted under the Green Schools Programme (GSP) for the last five years**. The participation has provided an opportunity for the Vidyalaya to assess its environmental practices and continuously identify areas for improvement in **energy conservation, water management, waste management, greenery and biodiversity**.
Through these sustained initiatives focusing on **greenery, biodiversity, water conservation, energy conservation, waste management and reduction of plastic use**, the Vidyalaya strives to create an environmentally conscious school community and inspire students to adopt responsible and sustainable practices for a **cleaner, greener and sustainable future**.
Wall of Scienctists was inaugarated during 30th KVS National Level NCSC Programme to enlight the students about life of eminent scientists and get inspired from their stories.
