Genesis

In 1986, the establishment of KV DRDO was initiated by GTRE, a laboratory under the aegis of DRDO. At its inception, the school comprised three educators, one principal, and classes spanning from 1 to 5. Operating within the confines of five rooms, an office, and a compact premises, the institution received generous support from DRDO, functioning as a benevolent patron. Funding extended by DRDO facilitated comprehensive infrastructure development, encompassing construction, laboratories, furnishings, technical support, transportation, financial backing, and the recruitment of additional staff essential for the seamless operation of the educational facility. With an initial student strength of 200, KV DRDO has grown to accommodate approximately 2500 students, organized into five sections from grades 1 to 10, and three and two sections in grades 11 and 12, respectively.

Encompassing an expanse of 4.82 acres and organized into three blocks (A, B & C), the school presents a picturesque setting with a skating rink, pond, and water fountain. The landscape is enhanced by beautifully tiled pathways adorned with lamp posts and traversing lush lawns. Additionally, the school is equipped with a foot over bridge that directly connects to nearby residences, facilitating students’ commute with convenience and eliminating concerns about moving traffic. The Kalam Hall, established as a shielded assembly hall with a stage, facilitates the seamless conduct of various programs. Furthermore, the school features an air-conditioned Bapuji Hall, boasting a capacity of over 250, where exhibitions and collaborative workshops are regularly conducted.

Over the course of many years, KV DRDO has experienced significant expansion and advancement, earning recognition from both DRDO and KVS in academic and extracurricular spheres. Demonstrating unwavering commitment to academic excellence, the school has consistently achieved a 100% pass rate in the Class 10 CBSE Board Exam for the last five years, coupled with commendable outcomes in the Class 12 CBSE Board Exam. Under the guidance of seven distinguished principals during this period, the institution has risen to prominence, establishing itself as a notable educational establishment. Furthermore, the institution actively participates in cultural exchange programs, with numerous teachers being deputed internationally to attend these enriching initiatives.

KV DRDO earned recognition for its outstanding infrastructure, often serving as the preferred venue for various regional and national-level events organized by KVS. Notably, the school received the rolling shield for maintaining the best-curated school garden in the city for five consecutive years.
Not only in terms of infrastructure but also in the realm of human resources, KVDRDO stands out remarkably. Numerous educators have been recognized and honored with regional and national awards, underscoring their steadfast dedication and innovative teaching methodologies.
